360Health can provide second opinions
Sandra* was leading a happy, healthy life, but at 42 began experiencing a dull pain in her right ear that became stronger and more constant. A CT scan showed changes in a section of Sandra’s brain and with a family history of Multiple Sclerosis (MS), she underwent a raft of tests.
Sandra was diagnosed with Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS) and began treatment. But the side effects made her feel even worse, and the pain continued. Suffering from fatigue, Sandra turned to MetLife 360Health.
The expert who reviewed her case concluded that she had been misdiagnosed. She had two separate conditions: Radiologically Isolated Syndrome and Chronic Intractable Headaches, not MS. Eighty-five per cent of customers are back on the job within the waiting period2. In addition to recovery and rehab services, MetLife 360Health offers return-to-work support for on-claim customers including retraining, ergonomic assessments, business coaching and more — proving that it’s truly a holistic, end-to-end program.
How does 360Health help financial advisers?
MetLife 360Health can help you support your clients in a meaningful way that goes beyond finances and insurance. You can educate your clients about MetLife 360Health’s many services and tools; you can even book virtual, confidential health appointments on behalf of clients.
For example, if you had a client whose MetLife Protect policy was accepted with a medical loading due to their body mass index (BMI) — an indicator of health risks — you could connect your client with an exercise and nutrition expert via MetLife 360Health for a personalised plan to lower their BMI. Once your client’s BMI is in the healthy range, they could consider applying for the loading to be removed if there are no other related or other health issues.
360Health supports mental health and wellbeing  
MetLife recognises that mental wellbeing is just as important as physical health, with 1 in 4 income protection claims being mental health claims3. Using MetLife 360Health, customers reduce the number of days they’re absent from work. 360Health also saves them income that could have been lost due to absenteeism attributed to mental health symptoms.
How does MetLife 360Health do this? With the help of a mental health nurse, customers are put in touch with a psychologist or psychiatrist for a virtual expert assessment within, on average, 8 days; the industry average is anywhere from 4 weeks to 6 months. The mental health nurse helps the customer navigate the mental health system and find a suitable psychologist or psychiatrist in their area. Data shows that 87% of MetLife customers then transition seamlessly into ongoing mental health care, getting them back to work and enjoying life sooner4.
